Respite Care

• Provided to individuals who are unable to care for themselves;
• Furnished on a short-term basis because of the absence or need for relief of those persons normally providing the care;
• Provided in the individual’s home or place of residence, community setting, or youth camp;
• May be provided by one or more direct support staff with ongoing coordination between the staff;
• Must be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week;
• No more than 336 hours/year may be provided to a waiver participant.
